Break Up Art is a band that started as a solo writing/recording project by vocalist and guitarist Donnie Bobb, and has evolved into a six person ensemble of players of diverse influences, who have come to share the stage with acts such as Lord Huron, Those Darlins, Sleepy Kitty, Cowboy Indian Bear, and many more.
Break Up Art's songs are dictated, for the most part, by melody and mood. A misheard phrase or an oddly timed cliche can spark a song into writing itself.
What once sounded like a sort of buffet of Radiohead, Fela Kuti, Sebadoh, The Talking Heads, Merle Haggard, E.L.O. and Guided By Voices; now has a slightly more refined approach.
